HighFlux App Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for the installed HighFlux app, for the website see the privacy policy of our website.

We value privacy and try to strike a good balance between preserving your privacy and gathering the necessary data so we can improve HighFlux for you and all other users.

How do we collect your data?

The HighFlux app (command-line client and graphical UI) collects the following data and sends it to HighFlux-controlled servers:

  • Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
    • Your git user name and email (as returned by git config user.[name|mail])
    • The name of your repository (e.g., for https://github.com/rust-lang/rust we would send rust)
(As we're in early stage, we'd like to be able to be in touch with users if we see problems in our logs. Future versions of HighFlux will stop collecting this data)
    • Depending on which pages you visit and which commands you execute, we may collect the titles of commits, names of branches and names of directories on your system, if they show up in the arguments of the hf command.
  • Other data:
    • Usage of the HighFlux command-line client (hf) and graphical UI, including time spent in the app, pages viewed, number of WIPs created and merged and the number of repositories you use.
    • What lines of code were executing inside HighFlux if the app crashes.
    • Details of the system you use: your operating system and architecture (e.g. arm64, x86_64), the version of git installed on your machine.
    • Logs from our process are sent on request (if you want us to look into a problem).
  • We don't collect source code unless you explicitly approve this. (The current version of HighFlux doesn't have any functionality that requires our processing of your source code, but we may add this in the future. In that case, we will very clearly ask for your approval to process source code from your repository)

How will we use your data?

HighFlux collects data so that we can:

  • Contact you if we see problems in our logs.
  • Improve the quality of our service by seeing how it's being used by users in aggregate.
  • See if we need to add additional functionality.

How do we store your data?

HighFlux stores the data we collect on servers managed by Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. Data additionally can be processed by Google Analytics, Mixpanel and Sentry. We'll delete usage logs at most 1 year after collecting them.
